Sexual Identification
Male: The male's coloration is brighter, and he has larger dorsal fins. Female: Not as brightly colored, smaller dorsal fins.
Behavior
Werner's Tetras are peaceful, hardy, attractive fish that would make a great addition to any aquarium. This fish can easily be kept in aquariums that have dense vegetation, dark substrate, ample swimming room, and a slight current. Dim lighting; however, allow direct sunlight to stream into their aquarium for a couple of hours; large swimming areas, driftwood, roots, and a dark substrate are recommended for this species. These fish are semi-aggressive and can easily cause injury to one another as well as to other tank mates. These fish are not recommended to be kept together with less active species.

pH: 5.6-7.0, Temperature: 72-81º F, Hardness: 20 dGH, Lighting: Should be subdued. Substrate: Dark bottom gravel and soft peat filtration is helpful. Water Changes: Should be done frequently.
Diet
Omnivorous: Large flake foods, freeze dried brine shrimp, small live foods such as artemia, mosquito larvae, bloodworms. Plants in the aquaria are left alone.

Egglayer: Little is known.
